Potters Bar Art Group started over forty years ago, when six local artists decided to meet once a week to paint together and to hold exhibitions of their work. From that small beginning the Group has grown into its present form. We still meet once a week and while some members like to ‘do their own thing’, others follow a suggested programme which includes such subjects as portraiture, still life and trying out new techniques. From time to time well-known artists give demonstrations to the Group, and in the summer, days out to paint in the countryside are also arranged.
Our exhibitions show a great variety of styles and favoured subjects. However, all members of the Group learn from each other and enjoy the opportunity to exchange ideas and to talk about new materials.
